Why have national media platforms ignored my story?

My former work, Brain Tumour Research, has recently updated my story. You can read the full length here.

People at the charity were heartbroken and said they wanted to go national with the story as it was strong, turbulent and impactful. I thought if it could raise awareness, perfect and I agreed to proceed.

When nothing was happening, I made an inquiry and was told that because I’m not British and don’t permanently live in the UK, they are not interested in the story.

This made me furious as one of the main reasons I’ve decided to leave Great Britain is because the standard of care was so bad. I honestly believe that if I had stayed in the UK following my radiotherapy without any scans, I would be dead by now.

We should talk about these issues. Not for my own sake but to understand the complexity of a brain tumour diagnosis and the consequences the inadequate care and lack of knowledge/research have on human life.

The UK cancer survival rate is lagging behind other developed countries. You can read about it here or here. My experience is just a proof and it’s a shame we don’t want to talk about it. Unless it changes, people will die unnecessarily and prematurely.
