I realise that some opinions I possess could be a bit controversial and not particularly mainstream. This approach could be isolating. That’s why it is nice, once in a while, to discover individuals who share certain views.
Such a moment happened when I came across Dr. Gabor Maté. He mainly focuses on addictions and child development – I recommend his book In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts – but also delves into other topics (stress, mind-body connection, …).
I have just found his recent presentation. Very thought-provoking. You can watch the full length here:
What really struck me was his quote:
Cancer is not the disease of an individual. The development of cancer in an individual reflects a lifetime history of relationships to family, and to culture and society.
You might not agree, but the arguments he gives, also regarding multiple sclerosis, asthma, … are very logical. If you can find a sound opposing view, please, send it my way.
