Introduction I attended the 2025 EANO (European Association of Neuro-Oncology) conference in Prague as a patient advocate and a member of the newly established Brain Tumour Advocacy Committee. Walking into the venue, I carried not only curiosity about the latest science, but also the lived urgency of patients navigating treatment, uncertainty, and quality of life. This … Continue reading Neuro-oncology conference report

Ask me anything (about brain tumours)
There is that time of the year again, when inspiration to write new articles is running low. Luckily, there are two big events happening this Autumn, and with people still following my work, this keeps me motivated to come up with new topics. Yesterday, I asked on social media, what scientific questions people have regarding … Continue reading Ask me anything (about brain tumours)
The latest advances in treatments, clinical trials … for brain tumours
My close friend, Andrew, who I interviewed, for example, HERE, has recently been invited to the British Neuro-Oncology Society (BNOS) conference. Seems like it was a very informative event. He was kind enough to answer a couple of questions I had and that I thought could be relevant for all brain tumour patients. Below is … Continue reading The latest advances in treatments, clinical trials … for brain tumours
International Brain Tumour Conference 2023
A few weeks ago, I attended a conference organised by the International Brain Tumor Alliance (IBTA). It took place in Vienna over the course of three days. I encountered a few familiar faces, including former colleague and established new connections and friendships. It was a great opportunity to see what everyone else is doing, globally, … Continue reading International Brain Tumour Conference 2023
Coming late is better than not coming at all
That's what she said ... right? It has always been in my nature not to follow the immediate trends, watch or listen to what everybody else is currently streaming. I just don't like the group mentality and prefer swimming against the creek. It's more fun that way. So basically, I always "discover" something too late. … Continue reading Coming late is better than not coming at all
Talking at Onco Conference
I was invited to talk at an Oncology Conference last week. The event took place in Prague. It was a perfect opportunity to present a patient organisation called BrainCzech, that I co-funded with my good friend H. H. is a doctor, who lost his sister to a brain tumour. This experience, among others, inspired him … Continue reading Talking at Onco Conference
Why am I doing this? / Proč?

You can enjoy the longer version here: https://www.ceskatelevize.cz/porady/10101491767-studio-ct24/221411058031109/ Starts from 8:00 Some people might ask why I am doing this. Do I want to become famous? (hahaha) Last Summer (2020), I almost died. In other words, the radiotherapy would kill me … Continue reading Why am I doing this? / Proč?
How to cope with grief?
This article was made with the irreplaceable help from good friend and former colleague, Emily. Her older brother, Oli, was diagnosed with a GBM and passed away 4 years later on 6th January, 2019. How was Oli diagnosed? He had a seizure out of the blue. Never had one before and so was taken to … Continue reading How to cope with grief?
It’s just a ponytail…
Disclaimer: I didn't find it horrible when I was losing hair during radiotherapy. Equally, I wasn't particularly bothered when a nurse shaved my head before the surgery. BUT Today, I put hair in a ponytail. First time in more than a year. It was quite emotional not because the bloody hair won't finally fall into … Continue reading It’s just a ponytail…
Emergency shunt
After the radiotherapy, hydrocephalus developed and I suffered from symptoms without knowing. Such as headaches, nausea, worsened balance and general confusion. This lasted for a few weeks and instead of happily returning to the UK, I stayed in Czech for a bit longer. The situation worsened and I had emergency shunt surgery. It was pretty … Continue reading Emergency shunt
