Oh, wow! Tough choice! I have to go with Richard Dawkins, I guess. I’ve read most of his books but my favourite of his is The Ancestor’s Tale.
Bill Bryson is fun.
There was a bit in 4000 weeks that just totally grabbed me but the rest of the book was a bit ‘meh’.
